Romanian wines won a total of 19 medals at the 8th edition of the London Wine Competion<\/strong> \u2013 two gold, two silver, and 14 bronze medals. Featuring wines from Viticola Sarica Niculi\u021bel<\/strong><\/a>, Olterra<\/strong><\/a> and Crama DeMatei<\/strong><\/a>, the Vintruvian Estates group took home the largest share of the awards \u2013 two golds, one silver, and seven bronze medals. The remaining medals were awarded to Cramele Reca\u0219<\/strong><\/a> (1 silver, 4 bronze), Jidvei<\/strong><\/a> (3 bronze), and HB Wine<\/strong><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>

Overall, Romania\u2019s results – as a relatively new participant in the LWC – are respectable. They rank comparable to Greece (22 medals, including 4 gold and 12 silver), or to Moldova (24 medals: 2 gold, 5 silver), and above Georgia (11 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver, 5 bronze), Hungary (3 medals: 1 gold, 2 silver), and Croatia (3 medals, all bronze), all countries with a strong interest in\u00a0the\u00a0UK\u00a0market.<\/p>

The competition jury, made up of 70 members, included an impressive 11 Masters of Wine and 4 Master Sommeliers, along with 10 expert representatives from the UK\u2019s top wine importers and distributors.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For those raising an eyebrow at some of the results listed below, it\u2019s worth noting that the London Wine Competition evaluates not only a wine\u2019s intrinsic quality but also its value for money and packaging. Thus, a very good wine that is more expensive may lose points, especially if it has a classic or less eye-catching label. At the same time, an average wine with spectacular packaging and a very competitive price can score surprisingly high.
