The first edition of a major international wine competition hosted by Romania – the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles<\/strong> edition for ros\u00e9 wines – is already setting new records: the highest number of entries to date, with 1,250 samples, and the largest presence of Romanian wines, with 144 entries, representing over 10% of the total submissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first tasting session of 2025 for the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the most important and influential wine competitions in the world, will begin next week in Constan\u021ba. For three days, nearly 70 international tasters will blind taste and evaluate ros\u00e9 wines from around the world and will have the chance to discover the incredible diversity of the Dobrogea region.
In addition to the wine competition, which will take place between March 28th and 30th, the event will include multiple tastings, visits to Dobrogea wineries, themed dinners, conferences, and masterclasses – all aimed at promoting Romanian wines and gastronomy among foreign guests. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is a first in Romanian wine history, with the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles becoming the first major international wine competition to choose Romania as the destination for one of its competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The nearly 70 tasters \u2014 winemakers, journalists, buyers, sommeliers, and wine educators from 19 countries, including Romania \u2014 will evaluate 1,250 ros\u00e9 wines from 34 countries, setting a record for the CMB Ros\u00e9 Session. Another record is the participation of Romanian wines, with local producers registering 144 entries, compared to last year\u2019s 44. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The top five countries by number of entries are France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Romania. The list of participating countries also includes more exotic destinations such as India, Canada, Colombia, Peru, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, and Turkey.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

From Pinot to Busuioac\u0103<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

From Romania, the majority of ros\u00e9 wine entries come from the Dobrogea region (35.7%), followed by Moldova (16.3%), Muntenia, and Transylvania, each contributing 10%. A large share of the Romanian ros\u00e9 wines featured at the CMB Ros\u00e9 Session are made from Pinot Noir (28.6%), followed by Cabernet Sauvignon (20.4%), and both Feteasc\u0103 Neagr\u0103 and Merlot (14.3% each). Wines made from Busuioac\u0103 de Bohotin, Blaufr\u00e4nkisch, Negru de Dr\u0103g\u0103\u0219ani, and Novac will also be evaluated. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is a global reference point in the field of wine competitions. Its independence, strict standards, and tasting procedures give consumers the confidence to purchase medal-winning wines. The CMB rules are strict and follow the regulations of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), which states that the number of medals awarded cannot exceed 30% of the entries.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was founded in 1994 in Brussels, Belgium. After 20 editions, it became an itinerant competition, hosted by some of the world\u2019s most renowned wine regions. In 2020, the CMB was divided into several sessions: one for red and white wines, one for ros\u00e9 wines, one for sparkling wines, and one for sweet and fortified wines. <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
