According to the Passport<\/span> international [1] <\/span>VIVC<\/span>, <\/span>Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Romanian variety<\/span> white wine grapes with full pedigree [2]<\/span> determined by molecular analysis, is the result of natural hybridization (free crossing, without any human intervention) between (mother) <\/span>Feteasca alba<\/span><\/i> and ( father) <\/span>Francuse [1]<\/span><\/i>Francusa[3].<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>

Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> became herself a parent to:<\/span> Astra<\/span><\/i>,<\/span> Auriu de Blaj<\/span><\/i> and<\/span> Vrancea<\/span><\/i>. These Romanian varieties were created by specialists in Romanian viticulture research units, so they are obtained by <\/span>hybridization<\/span> controlled. According to known data, <\/span>the parents of<\/span> variety <\/span>Astra<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Auriu de Blaj<\/span><\/i> are (mother) <\/span>Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> and (father) <\/span>Pinot gris<\/span><\/i>, with different contributions, probably given by the clones used for crossing, and the parents of the variety <\/span>Vrancea<\/span><\/i> are (mother) the hybrid <\/span>Traminer x Armas<\/span><\/i> and (father) <\/span>Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i>. <\/span><\/p>

You might wonder who is this<\/span> Armas<\/span><\/i>? It is the result of crossing Romanian varieties (mother) <\/span>Coarna alba<\/span><\/i> and (father)<\/span> Francuse<\/span><\/i>. Thus, we can deduce that <\/span>Vrancea<\/span><\/i> has much more qualities than<\/span> Francuse<\/span><\/i> because the name of this variety appears twice in its pedigree.<\/span><\/p>

The<\/span> Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> is very susceptible to downy mildew attack (<\/span> Plasmopara viticola L.<\/span><\/i> ) on leaves (score 2 on a scale of 1 to 10), susceptible to cercosporiosis (<\/span> Cercospora sp.<\/span><\/i> ) (score 3) and relatively resistant to anthracnose (<\/span> Elsino\u00eb ampelina Shear<\/span><\/i>) (note 7). These properties of resistance\/sensitivity recommend <\/span>Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> for areas rich in air currents, which can quickly dry out leaves after rain, in order to delay the fruiting of phytoparasitic fungi and warn growers about the need for consistent monitoring of vineyards at times of maximum susceptibility to downy mildew, especially in organic areas.<\/span><\/p>

The <\/span>Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> is known in Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Hungary and Serbia as <\/span>Kirayleanyka<\/span><\/i>in Austria and Germany is <\/span>Koenigsast<\/span><\/i>, in Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova it is called <\/span>Galbena de Ardeal<\/span><\/i>and in the Czech Republic it is called <\/span>Leanka<\/span><\/i>. <\/span><\/p>

The rest of the world knows it as we call it,<\/span> Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i>, a variety that produces unique white wines, full of finesse and character, that can be emblematic of the<\/span> wineries in Romania<\/span> that have it in their portfolio. Accepted synonyms [3] <\/span> labelling for wines produced in Romania are<\/span> Kiralyleanka, Koningsast, Konigliche Madchentraube, Galben\u0103 de Ardeal, D\u0103n\u0103\u0219an\u0103.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

Romania is the largest grower of<\/span> Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> (12,216 ha), according to<\/span> ONVPV<\/span><\/a>, followed by Ukraine (more than 1800 ha) and Hungary (almost 1000 ha), according to the latest data from the<\/span> VIVC<\/span>.<\/span> <\/p>

Those who have drawn up the<\/span> Feteasca regala<\/span><\/i> variety passport say that its taste would be neutral, that it would have no particularities.
