SERVE

SERVE was founded in the early 1990s out of the ambition and spirit of adventure of Guy Tyrel de Poix, a French count by profession, a dentist (but with family estates in Corsica and Champagne). He chose Romania because of two key encounters: with business and life partner Mihaela Badea (later Mihaela de Poix) and oenologist Aurel Rotărescu, which later led to the founding of SERVE, Romania’s first private wine company, in 1994. The collaboration between the three accelerated the transition of Romanian winemaking towards higher quality standards, highlighting the potential of the Fetească Neagră grape variety. In three decades, SERVE wines have had more than 250 international medals. Merlot Chevalier de Dionys 1995 was the first Romanian wine to win an international award, winning bronze in 1996 at the Canadian Selections Mondiales competition.  As of 2024, Silviana Petre-Badea is the winery’s new general manager, taking over from Mihaela de Poix.
