The third generation of the Darabont family manages over 40 hectares of vineyards in the village of Biharia, on the Crișana Hills, through the winery that bears their name. Founded in 2016, the winery obtained its first harvest in 2019. The region’s specific terroir includes limestone, clay, and loess soils, which contribute to the uniqueness of the wines produced here. The winery offers a diverse range of grape varieties. Among the local varieties are Feteasca Albă, Feteasca Regală, and Feteasca Neagră, while the international ones include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Darabont family also cultivates rarer varieties, such as Furmint and Traminer Roz. The winery produces approximately 250,000 litres of wine annually, offering brands like Darabont, URME, Fleurt, and Origin, each with a distinct identity. Winemaker Betty Darabont plays an essential role in their success. Familia Darabont welcomes wine enthusiasts who wish to explore the winemaking process and taste the wines.
