Casa Isărescu

Casa Isărescu is located in the Drăgășani vineyard, a wine-growing region with a centuries-old history, recognized since the medieval period, when influential nobles and clerics owned it. The vineyard gained international fame in the 19th century with prize-winning wines at exhibitions in Paris and Milan. Although affected by phylloxera at the end of that century, the vineyard was revitalized by replanting with resistant varieties, thanks to Pepiniera Drăgășani, founded in 1897.  The vine nursery played a crucial role in replanting and preserving local varieties. Subsequently, in 1936, the Drăgășani Wine-growing Station was established, where valuable varieties such as Crâmpoșia Selecționată, Negru de Drăgășani, Novac and Victoria were created. These varieties have contributed to the wine production diversification and the vineyard’s international reputation. The winery continues to invest in vineyard development and winemaking, preserving its heritage and the distinct terroir of Dragășani.
