Cezara Tănase and Radu Ionescu are the enthusiastic young individuals whose hard work gave birth to Kaiamo, the place where you go to feel at home and rediscover the taste of our grandparents' Romania. In each dish, you can discover a piece of history, a story, or a memory of a personality, and the wine selection here has caught the attention of international experts.
Highlights from the interview:
- Kaiamo was designed to make you feel at home, or like you’re in the house of a family that wants to change things a bit.
- We were both raised by our grandparents, with a clear system of values, and that education is transmitted through Kaiamo. We wanted to preserve the ethics and values we were brought up with.
- Kaiamo was born out of a lot of hard work, not miracles.
- The menu is inspired by Bucharest from the years 1895-1945.
- We researched recipes from Peleș Palace, Casa Capșa, and Athenee Palace and discovered many wonderful things.
- Each dish tells a story (literally).
- The wine list is awarded by Wine Spectator.
The filming of this podcast episode was hosted by the Kaiamo restaurant. The Wines of Romania podcast is inspired by Carrefour Romania's Deschidem Vinul Românesc / We Open the Romanian Wine program – the first national initiative equally dedicated to local wine consumers and producers.
