Sergiu Nedelea is one of the most awarded, well-known, and respected sommeliers in Romania. He runs a sommelier school, a wine shop, and a wine bar, being one of the most influential figures on the Romanian market. His initiatives over the past three decades have left a significant mark on how we understand and enjoy wine today.
Highlights from the interview:
- I am an ambassador, a knight of wine, but I identify myself with the profession of sommelier.
- The sommelier is an architect of wellbeing. They uplift you through the story behind the glass of wine.
- In the end, customer satisfaction is all that matters.
- Anyone can become a sommelier; you just need to have your senses “at home” and a sensory memory. Everything can be learned.
- We don’t have a school that truly educates you about wine and prepares you for the job market.
- Over a thousand people have learned from me — not only sommeliers, but also entrepreneurs and sales professionals.
