Corneliu Vîlsan is an expert with over 20 years of experience in General Management and senior roles in Marketing and Business Development at some of the world’s most important companies, including top multinationals such as Pernod Ricard, Seagram, Johnson & Johnson, and Schneider Electric.
He has worked in over 50 countries across three continents and is now dedicated to supporting Romanian wine producers (and not only). In January 2025, he will launch the live online course Wine Social Media, supported by the Wines of Romania platform.
Highlights from the interview:
- A consultant is like a doctor: they prescribe the treatment — it’s up to you to follow it or not.
- You can build a strategy with €5,000 or with €600 million.
- It’s hard to compete with big companies that have huge marketing budgets.
- Wine is not as profitable as spirits — if you sell white spirits, the money comes back much faster.
- Wine depends on the year’s conditions, spirits do not.
- The wine market is much more fragmented than the spirits market, where brands are stronger. Subscribe to the Wines of Romania YouTube channel to stay up to date with the evolution of Romanian wine!
The Wines of Romania podcast is inspired by Carrefour Romania’s national program Deschidem Vinul Românesc / We Open the Romanian Wine, dedicated equally to Romanian wine consumers and producers.
This episode was filmed at The Great Hill Cotroceni wine bar.
